Product Details

A working dryer vent is one of the easiest open doorways in a typical home. The flap is light, the gap behind it is wide, and most builders install vents with thin plastic flaps that warp, crack, or jam open within a few seasons. The bigger problem shows up over time: lint builds up around the flaps and stops them from closing all the way, leaving a wide gap that rats, mice, and other critters walk straight through. After thousands of jobs, Jim and Dave Schuelke filmed rodents coming through standard plastic dryer vents on more attic infestations than any other single entry point. This dryer vent rodent stopper is the cover they built to close that route for good.

The magnetic flap is the difference. When the dryer is off, the magnetic seal pulls the flap flush against the housing, leaving no gap a rodent can pry open. When the dryer cycles on, the airflow pressure breaks the magnetic seal and the flap opens freely, then snaps closed the moment the air stops. The housing is powder-coated steel rather than thin plastic, so it stays sealed against the wall in extreme temperatures and salt-air coastal conditions. Birds, squirrels, spiders, debris, and cold-weather drafts are all blocked at the same time.

This is the rodent stopper magnetic dryer vent the twins install on their own paid jobs. It pairs naturally with RatCapz roof vent caps and the Stainless Steel Wire Mesh to close every common exterior entry route on a typical home. How to Use

A tool-free install for most homes. Read the steps once before you start.

Installation Steps:

  • Disconnect the dryer. Unplug the appliance and detach the dryer hose from the existing vent if applicable.
  • Remove the old vent cover. Most existing covers are held in place with three or four screws on the exterior wall flange. Save the screws if they fit.
  • Clean the vent opening. Wipe lint and debris from the duct opening and surrounding wall surface so the new vent seats flush.
  • Mount the new vent. Position the housing over the duct opening with the flap hinge oriented downward. Secure with the original screws or with new exterior-grade screws if the holes do not line up.
  • Test the magnetic seal. Open the flap with your finger and release it; the magnet should pull it back to a flush, fully sealed position with no gap. Reconnect the dryer and run a short cycle to confirm airflow opens the flap freely.

Verify the flap closes fully every time after install. A flap that hangs slightly open is the same as no flap at all from a rodent's perspective.
