Collection: Attic Mouse Trap

An attic mouse trap works best on a stabilizing platform that won't tip on uneven insulation. Find and seal every gap mice use to get in first, then trap the ones still inside.

Attic mouse trap situation: mice on uneven attic insulation between the joists

Why our Ultimate Catch Traps are different

With 32 years of combined rodent-control experience, we've learned that traditional snap traps often struggle on uneven attic insulation. They can tip, shift or become unstable, and that makes them less effective.

That's why we developed our Ultimate Catch Traps with Stabilizing Platforms. They give you a stable trapping surface, even on uneven attic insulation.

Use: Ultimate Catch Traps, from $59.99

Mice all over the attic? The Rat Vac is multi-catch and multi-purpose. It catches up to 60 mice without resetting or rebaiting, $249.99.

Where to set an attic mouse trap

We've learned that finding and sealing every entry point is far more important than where you place your mouse traps. Once the attic is sealed, mice can no longer come and go.

At that point, set traps in convenient, easy-to-reach spots, even near the attic access hatch. You can check them and dispose of catches without crawling through insulation.

Where to set an attic mouse trap: seal the eaves, set platform traps near the attic hatch, follow the duct runs with UV powder, aim a camera at the traps 12345

Our professional tips

  1. Seal entry points first. Inspect roof vents, soffits, plumbing penetrations and other openings that let mice into the attic.
  2. Use stable trapping platforms. Our Ultimate Catch Traps with platforms are made for uneven attic insulation, with the stability traditional snap traps often lack.
  3. Pre-bait your traps. Let mice get comfortable feeding from the traps before you arm them. That lures them into the kill zone.
  4. Use UV tracking powder. It shows mouse travel routes and helps find entry and exit points.
  5. Install monitoring cameras. They show activity, verify results and send notifications. Aim one at your Ultimate Catch Traps to see when a mouse is caught, depending on your camera's settings.

The Rodent Free difference: we don't believe in placing traps at random and hoping for results. Our approach combines entry-point diagnostics, professional exclusion, specialized trapping equipment and camera monitoring to verify the rodent problem is solved.

MDM · Verified buyer · Ultimate Catch Traps

★★★★★

"Very easily installed. Fit perfectly over the vent stacks. The vent caps appear well made and the slots providing the ventilation are adequate. Only time will tell as to whether this answers the "mouse in the attic" question. Certainly worth a try to solve an episodic problem."

Frequently Asked Questions

Find and seal every entry point first. Then set Ultimate Catch Traps on stabilizing platforms where they're easy to check, like near the attic hatch. Pre-bait them before you arm them, and check them every day.

Through small gaps, about a quarter inch wide. Check the eaves and soffits, attic and roof vents, the spot where the gutter meets the roof, and holes around pipes and AC lines.

Light scratching at night, droppings like grains of rice on the insulation and along the joists, and nesting material. Narrow trails across the top of the insulation show where they run.

Not while there's a gap to get in and somewhere warm to nest. Seal the way in, then trap the mice left inside.

If droppings and urine are spread through it, yes. Pull the soiled insulation, seal the attic, and wait until you've gone a few weeks with no new droppings before new insulation goes in.

A small dab of crunchy peanut butter. If you know the mice have been eating pet food or birdseed, use that instead and tie it into the bait tugger loops.
